I think you mean welding the bearing/axle retainers to the axle housing, not the shafts...like someone mentioned the shaft has to rotate and the retainers DON'T rotate. that would be a mess. I think there was a problem with your bearings if you broke a shaft and the entire shaft walked out.

WebAug 11, 2009 · Awhile back I remember coming across an outfit selling heavier, thicker bearing retainer plates for the TJ rear Dana 44. For some reason now that I need them, I can't find them anymore. Anyone have a lead? My rear axle seals are leaking for the third time, and I figure I should beef up those plates while I'm at it this time.
