These normally go to the incoming 240 volt power. If you get it wrong, you’ll trip the breaker and/or destroy the thermostat. The heater is 5000w and on a 30a breaker, the thermostat is rated for 5000w 22A so I don't see why it would be an issue, just the diagram for the heater is throwing me off a bit.
